Julie & Francesco Zabatta

Frankie and I met for the first time when I was only 16 years old ending my junior year in high school. I had known who Frankie was because he had graduated a few years before me and played on the hockey team. I always thought he was so cute but of course he had no idea who I was since he was a senior when I was only a freshman. We had a mutual friend who introduced us one day in June and we ended up hitting it off. He asked me to be his girlfriend after hanging out all summer and we have been together ever since.

We booked a trip to our favorite place – Disney followed by a Caribbean cruise to celebrate our 6 year dating anniversary. After we checked into the hotel we immediately took the monorail to go to Magic Kingdom. Frankie asked me to get off on the first stop to take a look at my favorite hotel, the Grand Floridian. He showed me around the hotel and then we walked around outside taking in the views of the beach and lake. I was ahead of him and the next time I looked back he was on one knee. I was shocked and thought he was kidding!! He said he had planned to propose later at fireworks but was so nervous he couldn’t wait the whole day. Of course I said yes and we got to enjoy our entire vacation as a newly engaged couple.

Wedding Day

Our wedding was magical. We did a first look prior to the ceremony on a bridge over a small waterfall at a farm in our hometown. It was great to be able to see each other before the wedding and definitely helped me relax. Frankie is a firefighter so we took photos at the farm with an antique fire truck which was really special. We then got married at the Cathedral which was all decorated from Christmas with beautiful poinsettias. After the Catholic ceremony, we were able to relax and have a blast with the bridal party. We stopped at the State house in Providence to take some more group photos outside as the sun set before heading to the reception. Kirkbrae looked beautiful as it always does in the winter with the warm holiday lights on the trees. When we were brought in to see the room, we were so thrilled with how everything came together. The ballroom felt so luxe with the white draping, gold up lighting, and tables adorned with gorgeous linens and large white floral displays. We didn’t want to theme our wedding but went with a 1920’s vibe using gold, rose gold, and silver accents which fit perfectly with the holiday. We had such a blast dancing with each other, our family, and friends. We ended off the night with New Year’s hats and horns and counted down the new year. When the ball finally dropped, gold confetti streamers were released. It was truly so much fun.
